Instead of digging a trench the full length of the pipe, we dig small access pits at each end. A bursting head is pulled through the old pipe, breaking it apart and pushing the pieces into the surrounding soil, while a new pipe is pulled in right behind it along the same path. The result is a brand-new sewer lateral with far less digging than an open-trench job.
